Potential Ten Hag Decisions Vs Barnsley Feature 17 Year Old Starting And Forgotten Man Making Second Ever Man Utd Appearance

Potential Ten Hag decisions vs Barnsley feature 17-year-old starting, and forgotten man making second ever Man Utd appearance

Forgotten man set to make just his second appearance for Manchester United

Manchester United's final pre-season friendly takes place at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon and could feature a full debut for a 17-year-old academy graduate and just a second appearance for a player signed 12 months ago.

Erik ten Hag has already handed debuts to several youngsters this summer and in the absence of a number of first-team players on international duty, more could follow against Barnsley.

After impressing against Liverpool in Thailand, Zidane Iqbal could be joined in the United midfield by Charlie Savage, son of former Wales international Robbie Savage.

Savage could make his Man Utd debut

Savage only signed for United in March from Cardiff but has played regularly at youth level and has travelled with the first-team squad throughout pre-season.

Fellow teenager Alejandro Garnacho, who made his debut in the final game of last season, is set to start for United, with Amad, Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri pushing for recalls.

Another player who could be handed a rare run-out is defender Teden Mengi. The 20-year-old has made just one appearance for United - as a substitute in the Europa League in 2020 - but could get another chance in the heart of the defence alongside captain Harry Maguire.
