Prosecutors in New York unsealed an indictment and statement of facts. The indictment against former President Donald Trump unsealed Tuesday details 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to the investigation into his handling of classified documents.

The indictment alleges that Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, falsified records related to payments made to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star who alleged that she had an affair with Trump. The indictment also alleges that the Trump Organization falsified records related to hush money payments made to Karen McDougal, another woman who alleged that she had an affair with Trump.

The indictment is the third against Trump since he left office. He has not been charged with any crimes related to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The indictment is a significant development in the investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents. The documents were seized by the FBI during a raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in August 2022.

The indictment is a reminder that no one is above the law, not even former presidents.
